Aion S is a compact pure electric vehicle with a length, width and height of 4768mm*1880mm*1530mm, a wheelbase of 2750mm, and a weight of 1625kg for the high end version and 1575kg for the low end version, and a wind resistance coefficient of 0.245cd, which is comparable to that of the Tesla Model 3.
In terms of the electric drive system, Aion S adopts the industry’s popular “three electrics in one” design, which integrates the motor, electronic control and differential together, reducing the volume and weight of the entire drive system, improving the drive efficiency, and providing more spacious space inside the car.
In terms of the motor, the Aion S is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor from Nidec, with a maximum output of 135kW and a peak torque of 300N-m. The maximum speed of the high end model is 156km/h, while that of the low end model is 130km/h.
Providing power for the drive system is a new generation of “811” lithium ternary batteries (nickel-magnesium-cobalt ratio of 8:1:1) that are integrated into the sealed chassis. This power battery is the latest result of cooperation between GAC New Energy and Ningde Times, with an energy density of up to 170Wh/kg, and the technical route of this power battery is the same as the one applied by Tesla to Model 3.

Moreover, when the outside temperature is low or high, AionS can also utilize the electricity gained from the solar panoramic sunroof to automatically regulate the interior temperature and maintain ventilation to ensure that the interior is comfortable at all times.

GAC New Energy has made great efforts in the interior of Aion S. The entire interior of the car focuses on the concept of “levitation”, the 12.3-inch full LCD instrumentation and the same size of the center control screen with the various functions of the intelligent in-vehicle system has a futuristic technological feel, and the horizontal air conditioning vents are located in the lower part of the entire center console, and the steering wheel has a similar two-spoke design as Mercedes-Benz. The steering wheel adopts a two-spoke design similar to that of Mercedes-Benz, and compared with new energy vehicles in the same price range, it has a full sense of high class.
The bottom of the center control armrest is also not connected to the body, also in a suspended state, the front part is disconnected from the center control screen, which provides more space for the front row and ensures the comfort of its arrangement of users, while the center control armrest is also equipped with wireless charging bits for cell phones, which provides great convenience for users.
