Description
Exterior Design
BMW i3 eDrive 40 L in terms of styling design is not too different from the current model, the entire car is still built using our familiar design language, the front part of the matching BMW brand’s signature double kidney grille, and the nostrils compared to the fuel version of the model is a little larger, the internal closed treatment, the outer ring also has a blue decorative band. BMW heritage of angel eye headlights in this model has a different show, the external lines as well as the internal structure are different, two folding line light belt neatly lined up, the light using full LED light source, the visual effect is quite exquisite.
In terms of body dimensions, the new model has a length, width and height of 4872 x 1846 x 1481 mm, and a wheelbase of 2966 mm. the side design of the model is relatively simple, with the slow charging port located at the front wing panel of the main driver’s side, and the fast charging port located at the rear wing panel of the co-driver’s side. The bottom wheels feature a distinctly low wind resistance styling, with the higher end models having 19-inch wheels.
The rear design of the BMW i3 eDrive 40 L is very close to that of the fuel model, with the main differences being in the logo and the rear surround. The taillight cluster of the car is relatively flat in shape, with a light band similar to a golf club underneath, which is highly recognizable when illuminated. The rear surround is decorated with blue panels, emphasizing the car’s pure electric identity.
Interior Design
The interior of the BMW i3 eDrive 40 L features the BMW brand’s latest integrated floating curved screen, a design element originally used in the imported BMW iX, and the car’s sense of technology is still improved compared to the fuel model. The car’s full LCD instrument panel measures 12.3 inches, and the center display screen measures 14.9 inches, with the screen slightly tilted to the driver’s side, reflecting the BMW brand’s driver-oriented interior design concept. In addition, the screen has a built-in iDrive 8 operating system, and the color rendering of the internal interface is relatively spot-on, with a degree of refinement that deserves a favorable review. However, the bottom of the screen still retains the traditional air conditioning control buttons, and the shape and design of the upper and lower parts are somewhat cut off.
The interior seats of the new model are uniformly wrapped in faux leather fabric, with standard features such as electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats and driver’s seat memory. The car’s front seats look wider, the interior padding is hard, good support, but general comfort.
The material application and workmanship of the car’s rear seats are the same as those of the front row, with the hip position reduced compared to the fuel version, and the cushion’s upward angle increased, making the sitting position relatively comfortable. Under normal conditions, the legroom is about two fists, but the center floor still has a huge bulge, which is very stressful when fully occupied.
Powertrain
The BMW i3 eDrive 40 L is driven by a rear-mounted single electric motor with an output of 250 kW, peak torque of 430 Nm and an official acceleration time of 5.6 seconds to 100 km. At the same time, the new car comes standard with a lithium ternary battery pack with a capacity of 79.05 kWh, and a CLTC pure electric range of 592km.
